Today, Gretchen and I celebrated our 33rd anniversary. She should get a trophy, plaque, or some kind of reward for putting up with me for 33 years!
Sometimes, anniversary celebrations are elaborate or memorable. Sometimes, less so. Last year, was memorable — we went to Chef Tucker's for dinner, where Hillary had balloons and a card waiting for us. Tucker and Jenn served us some special, non-menu items. It was a wonderful evening. So much so, that we were remembering it, tonight, as we drove home from dinner (with Dimitri in the back seat!).
Unfortunately, there is no more Chef Tucker's. We miss it a lot, but we did get our son and daughter-in-law back in our "regular lives" (in fact, we had dinner with them, last night). So, what did we replace Chef Tucker's fantastic dining experience with, this year? Pietro's Pizza! Yes, that's right, we went out for pizza with Dimitri. You might say it was less memorable than the superb dinnere we enjoyed last year.
Believe it or not, this was Gretchen's request, so you'll have to ask her about it.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love my wife, and I am so happy that she has put up with me for 33 years.
P.S. The only reason (well, at least the primary one) that I am taking time to post on our blog, this evening, is because Gretchen is having a lot of fun downloading and setting up Picasa. Guess after 33 years, a photo software program is more exciting than me! :-)

Okay Doug didn't give you the whole story. This afternoon we napped together and "stuff" I was in a very happy relaxed sleep and I had a dream that Doug and I were 18 or 19 and making a trip to Pietro's like we really used to do. I woke up really wanting Pietro's and was thinking a lot about our last 33 years together so a trip to Peitro's seemed very fitting. I enyoed it very much it wasn't Chef Tucker's but it was a day and evening full of great memories! Doug, I love you too and would marry you all over again!
The photos I am learning to organize are a just few hundred from the last couple of years that are digital. I am finally learning what to do with them. I even put some on FaceBook this evening.
Happy Anniversary!
In your honor today I am wearing socks.
I love Pietro's! Do they have any stores open anymore?
It sounds like you had a wonderful day.
Dale, there are three left. The one in Milwaukie was closed but I guess it reopend at least according to the back of the menu at the Salem location we went to tonight. There is a third one in Hood River. Amazingly even after all the changes in ownership the Barmaid's Special still tastes the same as it did 35 years ago and it is my absolute favorite pizza. It was also fun to talk about the times we went to Pietro's in high school when we were first dating.
Cograts. I am happy for the two of you. On October 8, we will celebrate 14 years.
